Privacy Policy for SatCure

SatCure has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy.

SatCure does not specifically record email addresses. If you are a newsletter subscriber you must change your subscribed email address here.

If you have an outstanding enquiry, you should resubmit that enquiry using your new email address.

Our site's contact and order forms require users to give us contact information (like their name, address, phone number and email address). We use customer contact information only to reply to customers' enquiries or orders and occasionally to check on card and delivery details. We do not give or sell this information to third parties, except the delivery companies who need your name, delivery address and phone number in order to deliver your order and contact you about any delay. They will not use your details for any other purpose. We do not send "spam" messages ever. We do not phone customers unless it is essential to check their bona fide or to give urgent information about an order where email is not working.

SATCURE DOES NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION RELATING TO ITS CUSTOMERS TO OTHER BUSINESSES OR ORGANISATIONS UNLESS WITH THE EXPRESS CONSENT OR AT THE EXPRESS REQUEST OF THE CUSTOMER CONCERNED OR UNDER ORDERS FROM A LEGISLATING BODY. IN PARTICULAR IT IS OUR POLICY NOT TO DIVULGE THE TELEPHONE NUMBER OF ANY CUSTOMER TO ANY THIRD PARTY AT ANY TIME (except to the carrier company, as mentioned above).

SatCure is registered under the Data Protection Act 1984.

This site contains links to other sites. SatCure is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web sites.

Cookies

The SatCure site uses NO cookies but the shopping cart site DOES. Consequently, if you don't want cookies, don't place an order.

A "cookie" in computer terms is simply a code which is stored on your computer. Your Internet browser (eg. Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, iCab, Internet Explorer), has a file where it stores these codes. Cookies are normally very useful because they make it appear as if a web site "remembers" you or something that you did. (What is actually happening is that your browser is "remembering" the web site.) For example, if you are a member of a discussion forum, an information "cookie" can be kept in the cookie file on your computer so that you don't have to type in your username and password each time you visit the forum. Similarly, it is used by "shopping cart" systems. A unique code is stored in your cookie file so that the list of what you want to buy is associated with your computer when you reach the "checkout". Cookies can also be used to track your progress through a web site for other purposes; this may be so that you see a pop-up message only once on a particular page. In general, cookies are useful. There is no way that a cookie can be stored on your computer anywhere except in the dedicated browser cookie file. Also, it's not possible for the cookie reader software on the web site to read any files on your computer except the cookie file.

You can see the cookies in your browser - usually under "Preferences". Here is a typical list showing our "visionaids" shopping cart cookies:-

cookies

As you can see, a "cookie" contains our web site address, a "name", the expiry date/time and a number. It contains NO personal details and NO way to trace you or anything about you. It is held on YOUR computer for the sole purpose of tracking your order through to checkout.

Note that the Vision Aids shopping cart cookies expire automatically after an hour or less but you can delete one or more cookies, manually, if you are on some other web site and you don't want it to recognise your computer on your return to that site. Or you can delete all of them. But be careful in what you delete, otherwise you may find that you are asked for a username and password that you've forgotten!

Our site uses an order form for customers to place orders.

We collect visitor's essential contact information (like their email address and phone number) and financial information (like their account or credit card numbers) and security information (like their IP address). Contact information from the order form is used to send orders and essential information relating to that order. The customer's contact information is also used to get in touch about a specific order when necessary. Financial information that is collected is used to bill the user for products and services ordered. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions. Credit card information is collected and held on a secure server which we can access only by giving three passwords. It is never sent anywhere by email or post. Please note that other ordering information is sent by email so that you can confirm that it is correct.

We DO NOT send the user promotional material about our company.

We publish an occasional free email newsletter "blog" about satellite TV, Freeview, products, services and eBook updates. In order to receive this you must REQUEST it and then confirm your request by email. This ensures that nobody can subscribe you without your knowledge. Subscriptions to our newsletter are totally anonymous. All we see is your email address (amongst thousands of others). You can return to the REQUEST page at any time to cancel your free subscription to our email newsletter.

This site hosts adverts served by Google

SatCure is not responsible for the content of those adverts, which are related to the web page content and to information held by "cookies*" in your web browser.Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to visitors based on their visits to our sites and other sites on the Internet. Visitors may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy page.

We are actively removing all Google adverts from this site. If you come across one that we missed, please email us the exact SatCure page address.

Public Forums

This site makes a message board on another site available to its users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information. Membership of the forum can be completely anonymous if you use a "nickname". We recommend you do not divulge your email address or personal information here. Note, however, that you may need to divulge your UK postcode if you request information about Freeview TV reception. You can do this privately if you wish.

If you have any questions about this privacy statement, the practices of this site, or your dealings with this web site, you can contact us by using the Email tab at the top of the page and selecting the relevant email form.
