Get your aerial now Most of you will be aware that analogue TV starts to be switched off in 2008. From around mid 2007 I expect panic to set in as people realise they will be without television unless they get a Freeview box and change their aerial and cable. What most people don't realise is that there's a limited number of aerial installers and the prices are going to go sky high (pun intended) once the rush begins! To find out more, get your Freeview aerial report HERE. Sky HD Remote We finally got stock of the new Sky-HD revision 8 remotes. These will also operate any Sky+ Digibox and they contain the control codes for many recent thin screen TV sets, which earlier revisions didn't have. (These remotes do NOT operate standard Sky Digiboxes AFAIK). New Web Sites I've been busily building new web sites in the hope of earning a few extra pennies from Google adverts. Heck, I need the cash for all these holidays my wife drags me away on! Sky is offering flat dwellers the chance to get equipment installed very cheaply. See http://www.sky.com/skycom/article/0,,91169-1217975,00.html However, the shared dish system will NOT include provision for terrestrial TV. SKY+ Fan Problems Many people are reporting problems with Sky+ Digibox fans remaining off or on, following a recent software upgrade. This may be a coincidence or the software may have triggered the problem. At present all we can suggest is that you try a Reboot (you should do this after any software upgrade). If that fails, try a full system reset (which will erase your recordings) and, finally, call Sky if that doesn't help. Sky+ Digiboxes in standby Stop Press! I just heard that a lot of Thomson Sky Digiboxes and early Pace BSKYB3000 (with HD upgrade) are stuck in standby, following a Sky firmware update EPG 4.10c. If this is true then your only recourse is to leave the Digibox connected and wait for the firmware correction. Also rumoured is that this problem might be associated with the size of the Hard Drive. I stress that this is merely rumour. If anyone has a Thomson Digibox that has suddenly stuck in standby, please post details in our discussion forum. (Please DON'T email me. If it's true I don't want to receive a million messages! Update: Sky provided different (old?) software for forced download at 11:30am on June 30th. This appears to cure the problem for most SKY+ boxes with a larger Hard Drive. As we have no terrestrial aerial the loss of the sat box was a nuisance to say the least but thanks to your timely dispatch I have managed to get my hands on the package this morning. (It would have been yesterday at 08:30 but I was taking the children to school and of course was out when Royal Mail tried to deliver. They subsequently went home sick and shut the collection office for the day so I had to wait another day to collect my package !) Anyway all is well and I would like to thank everyone at Satcure for thier totally excellent service. I now have in my possesion my old faulty PSU which I need to return to yourselves (I paid for the exchange PSU ) and wish to make sure I am returning it to the correct address.
