For 2 weeks my digibox suddenly gave blocky or frozen pictures on a handful of channels only. I tried absolutely everything and simply could not work it out until I found your site full of FREE information.
I had re-installed a snooper detector in my new car recently and it doesn't turn off with the ignition so usually gets left on. I read on your site that this could be the problem.
I couldn't believe it could be the snooper as I'm in a first floor flat but I turned it off and everything's fine now.
My next step was to call out an expensive engineer. I wonder if he would have solved the problem?

Dear SatCure, Been having audio & video problems on my grundig digibox for a while, deteriorating steadily.
Signal strength optimised at 60%, none better available, despite borrowing a satfinder from a friend and taking ages over it.
Quality however, only 10 or 20%
Thanks to your helpful and informative pages I soon suspected the power supply. As I'm really tight fisted and hate spending speculatively I tried the experiment of sticking a big capacitor across the supply to damp the 120mv ripple I found there, hey presto, signal quality 60% and problems gone.
Its a REV A supply and I've already ordered one of your capacitor kits.
I think your site is great, a fine repository of useful knowledge, without which I'd be shelling out for an engineer visit and probably a new box. Empowerment through knowledge, this is what the net was meant for.

I have been complaining to Sky digital about the problem with reception of BBC2 & ITV1 (channels 102 and 103) on my Panasonic digibox for weeks now. (I missed two Formula 1 Grand Prixs and I was fuming!). Their technical support department were either completely unaware of the PANAFIX2D device or they were lying to me.
There must be thousands of people with the Panasonic TU-DSB30, the least Sky could do is put a notice of the problem in their customer magazine with your web address. I suggest that you badger them to do so !

Just a quick line to thank you for the useful info in the eBooks. Now receiving BBC and ITV although card problems as we all know prevail. Used a 60 cm OPTRIX dish from the local Castorama with a universal LNB for analogue/digital. (It cost about 50 euros, brackets, bolts, and f-type connectors and waterproof connection covers were all available at Castorama). I also bought a distribution box for 40 odd euros to distribute the signal through to the hard wired rooms in my house. The satellite meter provided was very helpful. Connected up to a second hand Pace 2600 from Lee Harling as recommended on your site. No problem with signal or hook up. Located on the coast 20 miles south of Vannes in south Brittany. Now just the head ache of the ITV freeview fiasco as the current card has started to come up with the dreaded phone sky message. Anyway... cheers! Love the monthly update... andy
Wanted to let you know you have another satisfied customer. The filter I ordered arrived in only 3 days (amazing when a letter usually takes 2 weeks to get here). I'm not great with a soldering iron (I think it's a great success when I pick up the cold end!) but it only took me half an hour to fit including drilling a hole for the LED. My Panasonic TUDSB30 now receives all Astra 2D channels perfectly, using an 80cm dish here in Holland. 20 quid (inc. VAT & fast delivery) well-spent! The only question I have now is why Panasonic can't make a Digibox that works in the first place... Thanks, David

Thanks for a great site, without which I would have probably spent much more paying to get my system checked out and repaired. Dear Martin, Thank you very much for the help provided on your internet pages. I had loss of quite a lot of channels on my Grundig GDS 200 model.(no satellite signal being received) Your rel. kit solved the problem instantly and I now have a working box again.

After downloading your book, Repairing Sky Digiboxes, and receiving a Relkit and fankit for Grundig digibox, I have managed to fix my problematic digibox. I have only dabbled in the past with a soldering iron, but I easily managed to fix the power supply. Prior to fixing the box, it exhibited the characteristic of a badly aligned dish; the signal test was low, and the picture kept breaking up on all channels. Now the picture is perfect, and the fan is silent. I had a slight fright when I first switched the box back on, I could only receive a handful of channels, however as soon as I completed a software upgrade all the channels came on.

Hi, Just to let you know, I received the order yesterday, fitted the Rel Kit in less than an hour and successfully solved the problem. The C17 capacitor had "cooked itself" which had resulted in pixalation of the picture and sound interference.
From initially placing the order, to full repair in less than 48 hours, amounts to great service in my books. Thanks you very much for your help.

Thanks for the e-mail. The kit was fine, the fault was mine. I was mislead by the numbering of C10 on the PCB. It was written on as 10 with a / across the 0.and because of the proximity of the components on the board I read it as an eighteen.
I am sorry if I was the cause of any vexation for you, but I e-mailed to find the location before I removed any components, just in case I had indeed ordered the wrong kit.
I dont know too much about satellite tv and as a 70year old bodger I wasn't too confident about starting until I knew where everything was.
Anyway I did manage to replace all the capacitors in a reasonable manner.Switched on and lo and behold everything worked fine. My problem with the picture freezing every few seconds was gone and the whole picture seems to be crisper than it has ever been. I was very pleased indeed, and thank you very much for all you have done.

PS The only capacitor that showed any visible sign of deteriation was C18 curving out at the top a bit.
The receiver has been in use for the last five hours and seems fine. Even Newcastle won it.
Hi Nicola Many thanks for sending the kit promptly, it arrived the next day on Saturday. Please pass my thanks to those responsible for publishing the site, without it I wouldn't of known the wiser regarding the common faults of the grundig satellite receiver, and that I (with no basic skills of repairing a PCB let alone replacing parts on it!) would actually get the unit back up an running in less than an hour!. Thanks to the clear instructions I replaced two of the parts which looked to be 'oddly shaped' with parts from the supplied kit. My grundig which had been rapidly losing channels for over 6 months and Sky interactive is now working.

##Grundig Digibox Channels missing##
Having seen many comments on various forums regarding the above problem, I decided the replace the capacitors on the PSU with identical, or where not available superior, spares from my local Radio Shack.
Although this cured the missing channels problem it introduced a 'screech' on the audio of all channels.
I ordered the repair kit from youselves which arrived promptly, installed the kit and I now have a fully restored digibox, a saving of over £50 compared to the Sky call out charge.

Martin Just some feedback I thought you may be interested in. Paid for and downloaded your installation book last week after I was quoted 450Euros just for a dish and installation (I already had a digibox and card). I bought a dish, LNB and fixings for 70Euros locally and installed the system yesterday with excellent results. Details are as follows:
- Location: Paris
- Digibox: Amstrad DRX100
- Dish Size: Optex solid offset 55cm
- Dish Seller: Castorama
- LNB: Microwave Electronic Products Inc, 0.6db Universal (came with dish)
Report: All channels received, signal strength and quality both 70%, better than I was getting in SW England!
Thanks to the confidence your book gave me I feel a sense of achievement at having installed my own system, and have saved shedloads of money into the bargain!

Nicola I received the Relkit 33b promptly last Thursday. Having got the kit fitted this weekend, I now have an fully operational digibox woo hoo :) no more sound dropouts, freezing images etc...

Martin, This isn't a technical query just a note to let you know that I had a problem with my grundig digibox, channels started to go amiss and it gradually worsened till only half the channels were available. Anyway using the info on your site I eliminated all the peripherals till only the PS was suspect. I purchased a power supply reliability upgrade kit. Ordered it at 15:00 on Friday afternoon, it was delivered Sat morning and the upgrade was done by 11 and the kids were watching the wrestling by 11:30. Excellent advice, excellent service well done.

Hello Martin, Just to say thank you for all the various bits of information. My twin-LNB dish is now up and running (one LNB pointing at 19.2°E & t'other at 28.2°E) and all the cabling neatly hidden. The SE00137 LNB bracket took the best part of a month to arrive. Nicola kept me posted with a series of email'd possible delivery dates and notes on what the current reason was as each one wasn't met! What a pleasant difference from the normal silence when things go wrong.
I can now watch Eurosport in English for free (using an old analogue box) as well as the FTA channels through a digital Sky box given to me by a mate emigrating to Oz.

As the title says, this is not a question but a thank you. I had problems with my Pace Sky Digibox locking up on a regular basis. After reading your website I followed the instruction to download new software for the digibox and it has cured the problem. So once again thank you very much for the free advice and excellent site. Sky didn't want to know and offered no help or advice I'll definitely use your service/company should any thing ever go wrong again.

Martin, I received the replacement tuner for my pace digibox, fitted it and the machine works without any problems. I have had occaisonal odd behaviour with channels searching for listings a little longer than normal but I see from your news letter that this may be down to new software.
Anyway thanks for advice and information - one last comment, I was extremely impressed with the turnaround time for the order and the standard of packaging.
I will have no hesitation to using your services again or recommending to friends, family etc...

Having replaced the dish because we thought it had been knocked when we had some building work done, we still suffered loss of channels and the signal strength was still only half, but the quality was below half and I could not improve it with any amount of dish realigning. Searching the internet I found your site describing similar problems to mine. I ordered one of your power supply repair kits and a fan and everything now works again! Martin, Another tale for your rogues gallery of installations.
A couple of weeks ago I purchased a second hand Grundig Sky Digibox and one of your Satfinder meters from your friend Dave in SoT.
Last week I took it home to the centre of France and after about five minutes, with the aid of the meter, had perfect sound and vision. Well pleased.
- For your records: Grundig GDS210/2,
- LNB: Sharp universal (0.7db), model BSCU86L;
- Dish: 80cm (very old).
- Location: near Montlucon, 250 mls due south of Paris.
At present I still haven't replaced the cable with the high quality standard you recommend. Must confess little incentive at present as the results are apparently perfect.
