Which plugs Wire my house X-Ray Remote 304114 wall plate FAQs BLOG Contact Us		DC1 power inserter Power can be inserted into a coaxial cable, to power an amplifier or similar, by using our DC1 adapter. The path of the current is marked by an arrow. Power goes to the male socket which should be fitted with a COLCM - male/female adapter. This should be connected to a coaxial lead with soldered plugs to ensure a reliable connection. Read how to fit TV plugs to the fly-lead. The female connector receives no power (isolated). (The DC1 will let you apply 9 volts DC to a "magic eye". However, if your Digibox is not supplying the voltage, there's no guarantee that it will respond to the signal either.) The DC1 also be used by itself as a DECOUPLER to isolate a SkyLink from your TV set if it won't work when connected directly (no DC required). The DC1 power inserter has a standard DC inlet socket which you can feed from a suitable battery or from a suitably rated regulated DC power supply. Be sure to buy one that has the correct voltage and current ratings for the device that you are powering*. See page 5 for power supplies. *(A typical "magic eye" remote extender requires 9 volts and very little current so any power supply that can provide 9 volts regulated DC will do). Unscrew the plastic cover from the plug. Slide it over your multi stranded insulated wire pair. Solder the stripped wires to the tags. The centre tag will normally be connected to the positive supply wire (conventionally coloured red). Make sure that the wires and tags can not short-circuit together. It may be advantageous to remove any sharp points in the solder joints and to insert a tiny piece of card or plastic between the tags before screwing the cover back on. ©2004-2011 SatCure
