Useful for running a "magic-eye" when the Digibox has no RF power. Solder a TV plug as shown here. Split away the outer insulation with a sharp blade and remove it. Cut the braid at the centre. Remove the copper foil carefully and keep it safely. Cut away the white insulator and wrap the strands of a red wire tightly around it. Wrap the strands of a blue or black wire around the copper braid as shown. If this is to be permanent, solder the connections Wrap plastic tape around the cable to insulate it completely. Make sure there are no short-circuits. Wrap the preserved copper foil so it overlaps the cut braid sections. Secure with more tape. The Copper foil is forming a capacitive coupling to complete the screen connection so that signal can pass but DC can not reach the plug. Connect the positive terminal of a 9 volt battery (or DC power source) to the red wire. Connect the blue wire to negative. Use an adapter to convert the TV plug to female in order to connect it to the Sky Digibox RF2 socket. Fit a suitable plug to the other end of the cable to connect the "magic-eye". The LED on the "eye" should light if all connections are correct. A remote control aimed at the "magic-eye" should operate the Digibox. If you want to measure the current drawn by an amplifier or an LNB (or similar), you can modify the connections in order to connect a multimeter switched to a suitable current range (e.g. 300mA).   ©2008-2011 SatCure  Send this page address - CLICK HERE - to a friend !
