1N5408 Diode notes
We may supply a BY255 which is a direct alternative for the 1N5408.
The banded end (red flag, silver or white ring near end) connects to the "positive" wire from the Digibox. If the Digibox has a cigar lighter plug, that will be the centre connection. The wire *without* the red flag connects to the fused supply coming from the battery positive terminal or nominal "+ 12 volt" supply.
An in-line fuse holder can be connected to the battery positive terminal (or to any 12 volt positive supply coming from the battery). The diode is connected to the fuse. The "banded" end of the diode goes to the Digibox.
The "negative" wire from the Digibox goes to the battery negative terminal or zero (chassis) supply. You can solder the wires or you can use a screw terminal strip.
