TV Wall Plates

Before you order a wall plate, please read these notes carefully.

All our wall plates are fully shielded. This screening ensures freedom from problems with interference. There are many wall plates available without screening (see below). We do not stock this type.

Where a plate is combining SAT (LNB) and other feeds into one cable, only the SAT socket can be DC-coupled. If you require a plate with a DC-coupled TV socket you must use a "Return" feed or use a plate which does not combine the SAT feed with the TV feed into one cable.

We stock wall plates from various manufacturers. It is important to note that, while these all fit a standard UK wall box, the shapes and colours vary.

All the "white" wall plates and pattress boxes vary in shade, dependent on manufacturer, manufacturing batch and on lighting conditions. We are unable to guarantee matching shades of white. This also applies to metal plates - we can not guarantee a colour or reflection match, even with plates in the same order from us.

If you need a specific shade of colour please DO NOT ORDER FROM US.

Please refer to catalogue page for full specifications.

A typical unscreened wall plate with decoupling capacitors

A typical unscreened wall plate with decoupling capacitors.

If you use a plate like this one your SkyLink "magic eye" or masthead amplifier will not work because the DC voltage can't get through the decoupling capacitors (brown coloured discs in the photo). You can short-circuit the capacitors by soldering wires across (see red lines in right-hand photo) but you might still have problems of interference because the connections are not screened. (Grateful thanks to David Taylor who pointed out this problem and supplied the photographs).

totally unscreened wall plate

Here is a totally unscreened wall plate (rear view). You can see around 20 mm of the coaxial centre core is unshielded and, therefore, able to receive and transmit interference like a small aerial.

The braided copper screen of the cable is clamped so tightly that the air-core plastic dielectric has been crushed. This will cause an impedance discontinuity that can cause serious problems such as "some channels missing" or simply poor quality pictures or digital pictures "breaking up".

All of the wall plates (below) sold by SatCure are screened and DC coupled.

But where a plate is combining SAT (LNB) and other feeds into one cable, only the SAT socket can be DC-coupled. If you require a plate with a DC-coupled TV socket you must use a "Return" feed or use a plate which does not combine the SAT feed with the TV feed into one cable.

The following pictures give some examples of cosmetic differences. Note that the colours you see on your monitor screen may bear no resemblance to the true colours under various lighting conditions!
